Edible Onion

Edible Onion is a Philadelphia based record label / collective that releases small run, hand-packaged records.

We silk-screen and sew record jackets together, hand paint labels, attach flower pedals to record jackets, and more... to make every record we release individually unique and special. We hope to put something beautiful back into the art of releasing music amidst the frenzy of the digital world.

City of Ice

Br'er - City of Ice

We are very excited to announce that on November 22nd, Edible Onion will be releasing City of Ice, the long awaited follow up to Br'er's debut album, Of Shemales and Kissaboos. In the four years that have passed since then, we have released a number of singles and eps from the band that have covered a wide spectrum of sounds and ideas. City of Ice is the culmination of those four years and marks an artistic high point for the band and principle songwriter, Benjamin Schurr. We are very proud to bring you this record packaged in gatefold sleeves made from recycled paper, each containing booklets with lyrics and photography and held in cases covered in gel transfers on top of acrylic and watercolor washes. Each case is unique and hand numbered. Click here for more information and to preorder it.

Archaic Fetishism Volume 3

Archaic Fetishism Volume 3

Archaic Fetishism Cassettes are back! This cassingle had its pre-release debut in July at Edible Onion Fest and now its finally available to purchase online. Four very different songs are collected here in custom made, hand-painted sleeves for your listening and hoarding pleasure.

The first side starts with the song "Sticky Bellows" from Healing Trapeze, the recording and songwriting project of Br'er drummer, Jordin Goff. "Sticky Bellows" begins the cassingle with a surreal, manic, nightmare march that gives way to a quiet, little start-stop folk song from Hermit Thrushes. Side B follows a similar approach, but to a lesser degree. A Stick and a Stone's "Helicopters" opens with a subdued, melancholic dirge that's filled with Elliott's signature ghost choir harmonies. The percussion leads perfectly into the last song, a poppy cover of Brian Reichert's "I Like People" performed by The Horror, The Horror and produced by Benjamin Schurr of Br'er. This cassette also debuts two new artists we have never worked with before, Healing Trapeze and A Stick and a Stone.

Only 100 copies will be made! Reuse. Recycle. Relisten.
