Archaic Fetishism Volume 4 collects live performances from two different experimental / improvisational artists that we're thrilled to be able to work with. The sides are between 14 to 15 minutes in length and cover two contrasting sides of experimental music performance.
Natura Morta reside in a world of quiet acoustics: prepared viola, contrabass and percussion that create "acoustic sound-sculptures and sonic landscapes" ranging from "heated silences to relentless drones to frantic hyperactivity." (From Natura's Morta's website). The trio is currently Frantz Loriot on viola, Sean Ali on contrabass and Carlo Costa on percussion and are based out of Zurich Switzerland and New York City.
Nick Millevoi's side is in some ways, very much the opposite as Natura Morta's, a noise performance that only exists in the realm of excessive volume using electric guitar driven feedback. Nick is a philadelphia-based musician who's played with a number of different groups over the years but this tape helps to showcase his recent solo improvisational work.
Both artists released full length albums this year so you should definitely seek those recordings out if you like what you her.
Released in a run of 100 cassettes packaged in hand assembled, screen printed boxes with window flaps. Printing was done by Liv Helgesen. Designed and assembled by Darian Scatton.
