We are very proud to bring you this record packaged in gatefold sleeves made from recycled paper, each containing booklets with lyrics and photography and held in cases covered in gel transfers on top of acrylic and watercolor washes. Archaic Fetishism Volume 3
Archaic Fetishism Cassettes are back! This cassingle had its pre-release debut in July at Edible Onion Fest and now its finally available to purchase online. Four very different songs are collected here in custom made, hand-painted sleeves for your listening and hoarding pleasure.
The first side starts with the song "Sticky Bellows" from Healing Trapeze, the recording and songwriting project of Br'er drummer, Jordin Goff. "Sticky Bellows" begins the cassingle with a surreal, manic, nightmare march that gives way to a quiet, little start-stop folk song from Hermit Thrushes. Side B follows a similar approach, but to a lesser degree. A Stick and a Stone's "Helicopters" opens with a subdued, melancholic dirge that's filled with Elliott's signature ghost choir harmonies. The percussion leads perfectly into the last song, a poppy cover of Brian Reichert's "I Like People" performed by The Horror, The Horror and produced by Benjamin Schurr of Br'er. This cassette also debuts two new artists we have never worked with before, Healing Trapeze and A Stick and a Stone.
Only 100 copies will be made! Reuse. Recycle. Relisten.

The night wound up being packed with performers, including a last minute appearance by Arrington de Dionyso's Malaikat Dan Singa, a poetry reading, and a couple of improv sets. We were lucky enough to have local videographer Sean Suter in attendance to film some of the music that happened, and I have included his three videos below for your enjoyment. WATCH VIDEOS

A Cure For The Broken-Hearted Revealed!
The compilation album is an oft-abused tool of record labels and music collectives to promote the music they are releasing in a cheap and quick manner. They usually include an impressive number of artists and songs; however, most of the time, less than a handful of them are worth listening to and the packaging usually leaves much to be desired.
Here at Edible Onion, we have put together a very special collection of songs that we hope will not end up underneath your car seats, and to prove that we are serious about it, we are releasing it in a run of 1000 accordion books. Each book is made with home-made book cloth and assembled by hand. The books are printed on a beautiful, recycled speckletone paper and each one is hand-numbered. The artwork features watercolor illustrations and handwriting by Darian Scatton, who also designed the packaging.
We kept the number of songs relatively low so we could craft an album that flows well, feeling more like an actual record and less like a collective of scattered songs that don't belong together. Most of the artists on the compilation are from Philadelphia with the exception of two, and many have either appeared on our last compilation, or appeared on other releases we have done. We are very excited to bring you this collection of old and new Edible Onion artists, and hope you enjoy it as much as we do! Order it here.

Reighnbeau Come to Philadelphia
Bryce Hample of Hedia is currently on tour with another project of his called Reighnbeau, which is a duo of drums, guitar, clarinets, bells, and melancholic droney ocean waves. In case you are unfamiliar with Mr. Hample, he is a multi-instrumentalist from Albuquerque, where he records and performs in a number of different projects including Yoda's House, Rabbit, and the aforementioned groups. One of the instruments he plays is the wonderful viola de gamba, which was played during the Renaissance and Baroque periods, and he has contributed a piece to our upcoming compilation, A Cure For The Broken-Hearted, that makes ample use of that and a number of other sounds. He is playing in Philadelphia on Saturday, May 15th with Reighnbeau. The show is part of an off and on series of salons hosted by Ross Lipton (Br'er, A Three Ring Circus, Brothers Tadzio) in his living room at 43rd & Spruce. Email us if you are interested in coming so we can give you directions. There will be a number of performers, including an electronic set by Benjamin Schurr of Br'er and Charles Cohen of Lopass Mates and Color is Luxury as well as a ton of free food.

Br'er: Filled With Guilt & Diamonds 12" EP
Edible Onion is proud to announce the pre-release sale for its first 12" vinyl release, Br'er's EP "Filled With Guilt & Diamonds." We are releasing the EP on 180 gram vinyl, and comes packaged in a screen printed, double gatefold sleeve with the lyrics laid out inside surrounded by ink drawings. Features a bonus track called "Centralia". Only 400 will be available! Comes with a digital download link. Buy It!
"Filled With Guilt & Diamonds" runs the gamut between more accessible pop songwriting and noise music that is heavily influenced by modern classical and avant-garde composition. "Painted Lady" is intricately arranged shoegaze pop and includes Nat Baldwin (Dirty Projectors) on upright bass. Its explosion of color at the end is in stark contrast to the mechanized horrors of album closers, "Sugar Bear," a voice and noise piece including Charles Cohen, and "Catch a Falling Knife," an avant-garde chamber pop song rife with organ, baritone sax, piano, harp, and noise. The album represents the schizophrenic nature of Br'er and showcases the two primary focuses that exist in Schurr's songwriting, blistering pop arrangement, and dissonant noise music.

Br'er: I'm a Kid Again / I'm Sorry Mom Single
Edible Onion is proud to announce its first vinyl release, a 7" single from Br'er, featuring alternate recordings of "I'm a Kid Again" and "I'm Sorry Mom." The two tracks orginally appeared on Br'er's debut full length "Of Shemales and Kissaboos," and have long been audience favorites in Br'er's live sets.
The version of "I'm a Kid Again" featured on the 7" was orignally recorded by Audio Confusion in Mesa, Arizona, during Br'er's first US tour. "I'm Sorry Mom" was recorded mostly live by Dan Angel in Philadelphia on his digital sixteen track. The songs as they appear here capture the raw, chathartic sound that characterized the group's early live performances, and differ dramatically from their melancholy readings on "Of Shemales and Kissaboos."
As with every Edible Onion release, each "I'm a Kid Again/I'm Sorry Mom" 7" is packaged in handmade art. For this release, each record jacket has a hand painted outer jacket, with vellum windows cut out to reveal a hand painted inner jacket. The painting was done with a mixture of acrylic and watercolor paint on oak tag (outside) and American Masters printmaking paper (inside). As well, all of the text is handwritten.
Available at Repo, A.K.A. Music, Long in the Tooth, The Marvelous & The Philadelphia Record Exchange in Philadelphia; APOP in St. Louis; Reckless Records in Chicago (Milwaukee Ave.); Treehouse Records in Minneapolis; and Eclipse Records in St. Paul.
